Administrative Rule for Landfill Waivers  ..........................................................................................

Pursuant to Title V, Section 503 of the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, also known as AIR-21, no person shall construct or establish a municipal solid waste landfill within six miles of a public airport as defined in AIR-21 unless the Georgia Department of Transportation, as the state aviation agency, requests a waiver of exemption for the landfill from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

An administrative rule was established in January 2005 outlining for landfill proponents the necessary steps and information required for the Department to process a waiver request. For additional information regarding these requirements, contact the Aviation Programs office at (404) 651 - 9221.
